BREAD MAKING COURSES

We are delighted to be back for some autumn bread-making classes. Our first date next date is November 9th - only a couple of places left As usual, we will be at the St Bridget's Centre, making four different sourdough loaves, plus a pot of starter, to take home. Our informal, hands on classes last from 1-6pm, with a tea break for a freshly baked fruit loaf and soft drinks. Come and join our baking session, learning new skills for a relaxing (and busy!) afternoon. A second (provisional) date for November 9th will be firmed up shortly.

BREAD ON THE TABLE - a new social enterprise

Bread on the Table is a new CiC (social enterprise), formed to develop a social project on the back of the successful local brand Little Eye Bakery in West Kirby - Little Eye will donate time and equipment free of charge. It is a non-profit organisation founded to deliver community baking projects on the Wirral and Merseyside.

It will also support projects creating and promoting bakery skills, sustainable food initiatives, healthy eating and a wider understanding of food journeys from field to fork.

Our first project is a pilot, in partnership with Better Food Wirral, a public health initiative, aiming to engage local Foodbank users in making and baking their own bread - and working together to form Bread Clubs to bake weekly and to sell bread to local people.

Bread classes are being set up: firstly in Leasowe with support from the Leasowe Development Trust, and another pilot area which follows shortly. More news follows soon.
